About Montana Country Dachshunds

What inspired us to start breeding dachshunds? After yearning for a dachshund my entire childhood, I purchased my first dachshund as an adult and quickly came to learn how smart and exquisite they are as pets. My desire deepened as I studied their genetics, conformation, and bloodlines, which soon turned into a passion. I realized the breed is very flooded with lack of quality, therefore I wanted to offer quality bred dachshunds with genetic guarantees.

Our Core Values

At Montana Country Dachshunds, our values guide us in breeding and caring for our dachshunds. All of our dogs are health tested and free from genetic disorders. We are currently OFA certifying our dogs, and we went above and beyond to ensure that our program is state and county certified through passing inspections. Our dachshunds aren't just dogs; they are family.

Our Certification

We are annually certified and inspected through the state and county, ensuring the health and well-being of our dogs' living environment. We strive to provide the absolute best for our dogs!

Contributing to The Dachshund Community

Our goal is to better the breed. We ensure our dogs are health tested, our females aren't bred until after a year of age and after their second heat, and all of our dogs are health checked and cleared by our veterinarian. We do not believe in breeding dilutes or dapple to dapple. We want to better the breed and avoid all hurdles necessary.

Bred With Love and Care

Our longhair and smooth coat dachshund puppies are bred with love and according to proper breeding standard selections. When you buy a puppy from Montana Country Dachshunds, you're purchasing a companion for life. Our puppies receive excellent care and nurturing during their first 8 weeks, including essential veterinary care and health maintenance to ensure healthy, happy puppies.

Common Asked Questions

Customers often ask about dachshund personality types, what our program offers, and the training we provide.

Dachshunds are full of personality for such a small breed! Here’s a breakdown of their typical temperament and traits:

Loyal & Affectionate – They usually form very strong bonds with their families and often pick a “favorite” person. They love to cuddle and be close to their humans.

Brave & Bold – Bred originally to hunt badgers, dachshunds often don’t realize their size. They can be fearless, protective, and sometimes a little stubborn.

Playful & Energetic – They enjoy games, toys, and digging (their natural instinct). Many have a silly, clown-like side that keeps families entertained.

Stubborn but Clever – They are intelligent dogs but have a streak of independence. Training requires patience and consistency, usually with lots of praise and treats.

Alert & Vocal – Dachshunds make good watchdogs because they tend to bark at unfamiliar noises or people.

Curious & Nose-driven – They love to explore, sniff, and follow scents. Sometimes this means their curiosity can get them into a little mischief!

Overall, dachshunds are charming little characters—a mix of sass, devotion, and courage wrapped up in a small, long body.

My program is state and country certified. We are the only state and county certified breeder in Montana. All of our dogs are AKC registered.

We focus on sensory introduction, ENS and ESI training, socialization, turf/litter training, and crate introduction. Our puppies recieve hands on work daily and are introduced to children. Our puppies come AKC registered, vet cleared, vaccinated up to 8 weeks of age, dewormed, with a puppy starter package, and 30 days of free health insurance.
